About Mo's

Mo Chara meaning ‘my friend’ in Irish, is a neighbourhood pub based on the concept of friendship and creating a space to give back to the local community. Started by three childhood friends, Cillian, Paul & Vincent in July 2021, we set out to fulfill a lifelong dream of creating something that would become iconic to Dundalk at 19 Roden Place, Dundalk.

Mo's in the community

Our vision was to bring life back to one of Dundalk’s oldest and most beautiful pubs through creating an inviting cafe style atmosphere where the community felt welcome at all times. By offering the best quality locally sourced food, craft beer and coffee we wanted to champion the producers around us. We also set about creating charitable & cultural activities that we felt Dundalk was asking for!

Giving Back

We set out our stall from the very beginning with the ethos of giving back. Since opening and to this day, we give 10c of every pint of our house beers sold to a local charity.

From sponsoring local teams to hosting fundraising events. Here are some of the charities we’ve been able to help out along the way: Donated €3,500 since 2021 to local man Andrew Keenan’s fundraisers in aid of Irish Cancer Society, North Louth Hospice & Do It for Dickie Donated over €2,000 to Dundalk Dog Rescue in 2023 during our bi-monthly dog coffee mornings where all proceeds of coffees go to the charity Donated €1,000 to Save Our Sonia for local hero Sonia who required life saving treatment Hosted a Movember Shave Off Party where over 100 people shaved off their moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health.

Arts & Cultural Events Ethos

From the beginning, we wanted to create a space that would encourage collaboration and celebrate the creators, innovators and entrepreneurs of Dundalk. We focused and continue to put on events that we ourselves would love to attend. Something that adds a little bit to our town and showcases what we have to offer as a region.

Classes & Workshops

We wanted to create a space for our community to celebrate such events as St. Patrick’s Day, Pride,Oktoberfest as well as give them something different to do such as our monthly Sunday market, painting classes, movie nights and comedy gigs. We’ve also put our upstairs room, Quaglinos, in to use as a space for budding musicians and artists to showcase their work. We’ve even had Tg4 in to film a documentary on trad music in Dundalk with the Mary Wallopers.

Food & Drink Ethos

When it comes to food and drink, we wanted to offer Dundalk something new! We champion local suppliers and only the best possible produce. We combine Neapolitan style pizzas with Irish takeaway style toppings. We focus on craft beer and have the largest selection of fresh draft in Ireland outside of Dublin. We host a monthy kitchen pop-up where we take a top restaurant from anywhere in Ireland to takeoverour kitchen for one night! This brings something to Dundalk that never would’ve been possible andbrings a full house every time! We also host beer & spirits brands to offer tastings and experiences that haven’t been possible in Dundalk until now. We’ve given a completely new offering all round to Dundalk!
