so here's the craic...

after years of talking, we set about recreating what the Irish pub means to a community and began building something that has turned into a bit of an icon here in Dundalk

a story best told over a stubby

Mo Chara—which means ‘my friend’ in Irish is still used on occasion around the town as a casual way to greet your mate. We thought this was the perfect name for a pub started by old friends to make loads of new ones.

Opened in July 2021, Mo Chara is well on its way to achieving that iconic status we dreamt of with people making the pilgrimage from all across the country.

mo's lager

Not a lot of people know but before a pub was ever on the cards the initial plan for Mo Chara was for it to be a brewery.

In the end, we opened a pub instead and have spent the last few years perfecting the beer we pour and even making our own. Mo's Lager first touched the lips of the public in 2023 and is the culmination of everything we dreamt of doing.

a hub and a pub

Mo Chara is a place where folks come together, share ideas, and give a nod to the thinkers, do-ers and local legends of the town hosting all kinds of events.

Dundalk was missing something and we decided to start putting on events that we'd be excited to go to ourselves.

Everything from packed Sunday markets with local vendors to comedy nights featuring the country’s top acts, kitchen pop-ups by the best chefs in Ireland and secret gigs by bands like The Mary Wallopers.

big collabs

If there’s one thing we know how to do right it's getting people talking with an unexpected brand collab.

We've teamed up with the likes of Beamish, New Balance, and Edwin for drops that sell out fast and gets picked up in the media cby the likes of Hypebeast, Lad Bible, Joe.ie and plenty more.

eternal cycle of pints

making our mark

Winning ‘Louth Pub of the Year in 2022’ and ‘Irish Craft Bar of the Year’ for the whole of Ireland all helped cement Mo Chara as one of the greatest wee pubs with the greatest wee stubby in the world.
